Museum, presents “Finding those who serve: military genealogy”.

Weds Aug 19: VCHS Board meeting, 4:15 p.m. at the Vernon County History Center.

Sun Aug 23: Cemetery walk at South West Prairie Lutheran Church Cemetery, 4 p.m.

Sat Aug 29: Pork Chop Dinner in the parking lot of the Vernon County
History Center, 4–7 p.m. or until gone.

Sept 1: Autumn hours begin at the Vernon County History Center: Open Monday – Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment, until December 1.

Blaine Hedberg of the Westby Area Historical Society will be the guest speaker.

Tues Sept 22: VCHS program at the Vernon County History Center, 7 p.m.
Jarrod Roll of the Monroe County Local History Room & Museum will present a
public history program titled:
“Gone But Not Forgotten: History of the Wisconsin State School / Child Center”.

Sun Sept 27: Cemetery walk at the Vernon County Cemetery, 4 p.m.

Sat Oct 3: Taste of Norway festival at Country Coon Prairie Lutheran Church, 1–4 p.m.

Tues Oct 6: VCHS program at the Vernon County History Center, 7 p.m.
Civil War reenactor Dave Glomstad of La Crescent will present a program
about the 15^th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry, sometimes called the Scandinavian, or Norwegian, Regiment.
Many Norwegian immigrants to Wisconsin joined this regiment. Glomstad’s
presentation will focus on men from Bad Axe/Vernon County who were in the 15^th.

Weds Oct 7: Driftless Area Heritage Group (DAHG) meeting
at the Vernon County History Center, 11:30 a.m.

Thurs Oct 8: Genealogy class† meets at the Vernon County History Center, 10 a.m.
